Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller: The Godfathers of Rock & Architects of Pop Music

tony-orlando-article-mike-stoller

Hello everyone! Join me this Saturday night because we have MIKE STOLLER of the writing team LEIBER AND STOLLER! Every song we will play Saturday night on 77 WABC are songs written by this iconic writing team.

Here are some of the songs they wrote: “Hound Dog,” “Yakaty Yak,” “Charlie Brown,” “Spanish Harlem,” “Stand By Me,” “I Who Have Nothing,” “On Broadway,” “Only In America”…. from “Jail House Rock” for ELVIS to “Charlie Brown” for THE COASTERS, and “There Goes My Baby” by THE DRIFTERS.

Yes, LEIBER and STOLLER are described as the architects, Godfathers, and authors of shaping the music of Rhythm and Blues/Jazz/Country, fusing together to what is ultimately called Rock and Roll!

They are the chefs of this great American musical stew, by writing all the songs, which we will play on my show on Saturday Night! We will not only play them, but we will have the honor of talking with Mike Stoller himself, who is looking forward to take us on his iconic musical journey with amazing stories of how he cooked up such an amazing musical cuisine that has lasted for 7 decades.

The world still can’t get enough of the songs written by Leiber and Stoller. Yes, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote over 70 chart hits! Together they wrote the longest running Broadway musical revue in Broadway history, “Smokey Joe’s Cafe.” They were also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, and have their own star on the infamous Hollywood Walk of Fame.

So if you love great music and music history, then you must listen to our show on Saturday night, 10 pm to midnight EST, 9 pm-11pm CT,  7pm-9pm PST on 77 WABC and streaming worldwide on WABCRadio.com! 77 WABC, New York City’s number one iconic radio station!

Thank you,
Tony Orlando
