This Saturday Night… A Doo-Wop Serenade!!!

Hello everyone!

There are three musical ideas in the world and then there’s Doo-Wop!

A music genre that stands alone and withstands the test of time…a style of music that may have its beginnings in the 40’s with groups like THE INK SPOTS, and who knows what singing groups inspired them! The singing groups of Doo-Wop are the fathers of groups like THE TEMPTATIONS, THE FOUR TOPS, and currently the so-called boybands, such as BOYZ II MEN, the BACKSTREET BOYS, and *NSYNC. Yes the Doo-Wop era with groups like THE FLAMINGOS, THE SCHOOLBOYS, THE HEARTBEATS, THE DELLS, THE SPANIELS, THE FIVE SATINS….when they sang the nights stand still!!!

So, this Saturday night will be an amazing musical time machine, taking us back to the neighborhood ,where Doo-Wop music and it’s stars were born singing under a New York City lamp post, or in the hallways of a tenement building… or the echo driven sounds of harmonies filling the tunnels of the New York City’s subways! Yes a Doo-Wop serenade that is raw, and yet sweet and magical.

We could do five two hour shows, because this genre called Doo-Wop is that vast. Also, I’m so proud to have on the show LARRY CHANCE, lead singer of THE EARLS, and JOHNNY PETILLO, a true ambassador of Doo-Wop and a member of THE DUPREES, and also a member of the iconic DANNY AND THE JUNIORS! We share Larry and Johnny’s journey in their world of this amazing thing we call our Doo-Wop

Serenade ! We also will receive a call from my friend JAY SIEGEL,of the iconic group THE TOKENS, and he even agrees to co-host a portion of our show! So fasten your seat belts and let’s rocket back to a time that was, but still is! And never to be forgotten!!!

This Saturday night it’s our “Doo-Wop Serenade”!!! From the song “Where Are You Little Star” to “Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight”! “It’s a must listen! “And remember then “we would ask, “Who wrote the book of love”? Well then meet me at the “jukebox” here at Music Radio 77 WABC. Saturday night and maybe we’ll find out!
