We have a great time creating themed radio shows and the one theme that created a fantastic response was Doo Wop Serenade Vol.1!
I was born and raised in New York City’s Manhattan at 221 West 21st Street, between 7th and 8th avenues. In the late fifties there was no such thing as hip hop…But it was the decade that gave birth to Doo Wop!
Tonight’s Vol.2 is even made greater because of our guest this Saturday night- the legendary character “BOWZER”.
Created for the iconic satirical Doo Wop group ‘Sha Na Na’ that was created by our guest whose real name is JON BAUMAN, a creative genius in my book and a true renaissance man. BOWZER along with the group ‘Sha Na Na’ had one of television’s most successful TV musical comedy variety shows ever and never again to be duplicated!
JON “BOWZER” BAUMAN also has been a warrior for what is called the “Truth in Music” law. He fought for and won the protection of the real singing group from being falsely impersonated and therefore stealing their fame and whatever fortune that was or is truly theirs. He prevented what was literally stealing from Doo Wop groups. Tonight we honor his fight and we play all the great true Doo Wop groups that BOWZER fought for and continues to fight for.
He is, in my opinion, a hero to so many!
