This Saturday Night…It’s a “Stax” Full of Soul Classics From Our “Volt” of R&B Greats!

Hello my friends!

In one year I have been blessed with the opportunity to have as guests on my show here on Music Radio 77 WABC, some of the most important names in music. Giants like CLIVE DAVIS, the Fathers of Rock and Roll MIKE STOLLER (of LEIBER & STOLLER), GARTH BROOKS and TRISHA YEARWOOD, DAVID FOSTER,LIONEL RICHIE, FRANKIE VALLI, JOE WALSH, EARTH, WIND & FIRE’s PHILIP BAILEY, CHUCK NEGRON of THREE DOG NIGHT, JOAN JETT, DION DiMUCCI, and even my music loving friend and MEGA movie- star ADAM SANDLER, has called in … just to name a few!

And all Hall of Famers! The list is truly mind bending, this Saturday it continues …when we pay tribute to Stax-Volt, the Memphis based R&B Record company of Memphis, and their artists like SAM and DAVE, ISAAC HAYES, JOHNNY TAYLOR ,CARLA THOMAS, RUFUS THOMAS. EDDIE FLOYD ,and the incredible STAPLE SINGERS.. And we pay tribute our guest, their producer and songwriter, guitar legend.. STEVE CROPPER. He is the man who co-wrote “Sittin’ On The Dock Of The Bay”with OTIS REDDING. He also wrote “In The Midnight Hour” with WILSON PICKETT, and “Knock on Wood” by EDDIE FLOYD.

He is The founder and guitar player of Stax-Volt Records legendary house band BOOKER T and the MG’s. They also had major hit records of their own like “Green Onions”, which Steve also wrote and produced..Yes, STEVE CROPPER is a living, breathing, guitar playing Blues legend. He even played a major part in the BLUES BROTHERS iconic film. And is a member of the BLUES BROTHERS Band… With JOHN BELUSHI and DAN AYKROYD, the BLUES BROTHERS themselves!

Yes, we are honored to have this incredible legend, STEVE CROPPER, as our guest this Saturday night! We complete our tribute show to him and the record label Stax-Volt that gave us a treasure chest of artists and records that can only be described as the roots of the tree of the greatest R&B, and Rock and Roll records ever made.

STEVE CROPPER, WE THANK YOU this Saturday night on the radio station that played those records to their number one positions on the charts… All of us at Music Radio 77 WABC are proud to pay tribute to one of the music industries greatest, and by the way a multiple Grammy recipient, and a member of the Roll Hall of Fame…STEVE CROPPER!
