Darlene is going to visit us – Darlene Love will say Hi to the Cuz this Saturday 5/28. This amazing Star has one of the best and most recognizable voices in the business today. She was the lead vocalist (of the girl group The Blossoms) and has recorded several hits as a solo artist.
Also, Darlene is an actress (“Lethal Weapon and Lethal Weapon II). The Oscar winning documentary “Twenty Feet From Stardom” featured Darlene prominently.
She began singing as a child with her local church choir and eventually met producer Phil Spector – besides several recordings – Spector renamed Darlene Wright – Darlene Love. Darlene sang lead on “He’s A Rebel” and “He’s sure the Boy I Love.” (credited to The Crystals).
She became the most sought after vocalist in the music business – recording with Sam Cooke, Bill Medley, The Beach Boys, Elvis and the Beatles. Broadway loved her, she appeared in Hairspray, Leader of the Pack and Grease.
Darlene Love is ranked among the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine.
She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
