I’m sure many of you remember an incredible movie called “AMERICAN GRAFFITI”, a monster movie released in 1973 and asks …”where were you in 1962?” A movie that debuted young actors, who later became huge movie stars, like HARRISON FORD and RON HOWARD. HOWARD became a powerful motion picture director as well. “AMERICAN GRAFFITI” is a story about coming of age for its director, GEORGE LUCAS, and the music of the 50’s and 60’s ,which was Lucas’s teenage years growing up in Northern California. It is a Comedy/Drama! And it also gave birth to producer/director, FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA. LUCAS and COPPOLA, worked together on this film. Imagine… “STAR WARS” was produced and directed by LUCAS, and COPPOLA produced and directed “THE GODFATHER”, two of the most successful and now iconic motion pictures of all time. And this film “AMERICAN GRAFFITI “ was their first film, an iconic film, and also broke box office records and earned multimillions around the world.
And it’s mind bending to think it only had a budget of $750,000 ! One other aspect of its huge success is its soundtrack, which we will play this Saturday night, highlighting and paying tribute to Doo-Wop’s greatest records and those incredible Rock and Roll years of the 50s…bringing us right up to the year 1962. Now, there are 41 songs on the “AMERICAN GRAFFITI” Soundtrack tribute show, and The “AMERICAN GRAFFITI” soundtrack albums reached to the Number One position on all of the American and UK charts!
This show is, and I’m proud to say, a CLASSIC radio show, because we will stay true to the classic motion picture soundtracks of “AMERICAN GRAFFITI”!
