Cousins,

I’m back in the saddle- Jodie and I visited our daughter and son in law in Florida last week. We had a great time.

Our special guest this Saturday (12/10/22) is Michael D’Amore, lead vocalist of The Capris. Michael joined the group seven years ago. He has entertained audiences internationally for more than 37 years. When he auditioned for the Capris – he won the job in less than 15 minutes.

Michael has the voice of an opera singer mixed perfectly with a DooWop vocalist. He is indeed a rare talent. The original Capris formed in Ozone Park, NY in 1958. They were all teenagers attending local high schools. The group originally called themselves “The Supremes”, but soon changed their name to “The Capris.” The boys were all Italian Americans – it was believed that they named themselves after the Isle of Capri in Italy. Actually, they named themselves after an American car – The Lincoln Capri.

They performed at high school and church dances. Eventually the young group was noticed by independent record producers and produced their first single: “There’s A Moon Out Tonight”. The group went through several personnel changes through the years. One of the original group members still performs with The Capris – second tenor Frankie Reina. “Morse Code of Love” hit the charts in the 80’s and both “There’s A Moon Out Tonight” and “Morse Code” are frequently heard on the Air.

The Capris will perform in an all-star show- featuring: Jay Siegle’s Tokens, Lou Christie, Larry Chance & The Earls, Brian Hyland and The Fireflies – at Bergen Performing Arts Center in Engelwood, NJ on Saturday , December 17th.

Tickets- (201) 227-1030
