Hey Cousins!

THE CHIFFONS JUDY CRAIG VISITS THE CUZ!

When we attended high school we studied English, Math, History, learned a new language- and – some of us formed a singing group.

Once again James Monroe High School in the Bronx graduated a new group. Originally they were called “The Four Pennies”. The girl group enjoyed some local success, performing at school and church functions. Songwriter Ronnie Mack wrote a song for the girls – at the recording session he changed the Pennies name – The Chiffons were born.

The song “He’s So Fine” was produced by The Tokens(“The Lion Sleeps Tonight”) and hit number one on the music charts. The Chiffons had a million seller with their first record. The Pennies became Gold. This hit was followed by a string of other chartbusters – “One Fine Day” (Written by Carol King and Gerry Goffin), “Sweet Talking Guy”, and “I Have A Boyfriend “. Along with The Shirelles – The Chiffons set the standard for The Girl Groups.

Our guest this week is one of the original founding members and lead vocalist of The Chiffons, Judy Craig. Judy continues to tour with the group and delights audiences Internationally.

The Chiffons will be starring in a show on Saturday May 20th, 2023 (7:00 PM) at the Count Basie Theater, Red Bank, NJ
