Hey Cousins!

“….Ma, can I go out and sing with the boys?”….this is an amazing story that led to the formation of one of our most popular ballad groups of the early ‘60’s.

The “Sinceres” were a local Brooklyn trio – they enjoyed “neighborhood” success. They knew that had to add a lead vocalist and become a quartet. One day they heard Jimmy Gallagher singing with another local group.

This was the guy that they wanted. He would be the perfect addition to the group. So, they followed him home- knocked on the door. Jimmy’s mother came to the door. Tony, Albee and Vinnie convinced Jimmy’s mom that they were not there to harm him – they just want to sing with him. The boys go to a nearby park and sing.

It worked beautifully. The Passions were born. Their manager (Jim Gribble) gave the new quartet a demo recording by “The Cousins.”
The “Cousins” were Paul Simon and Carole King.

The demo song was “Just To Be With You.” More of this story when passionate Jimmy Gallagher visits the Cuz on WABC this Saturday 1/14/23.

The best music from the 50s, 60s and 70s. I will take requests and dedications live on-air! The call-in number is 800-848-9222. Special segments – One Hit Wonder, All Request Radio and the popular “Love Hour 1/2 Hour segment.” Four Hours of Fun Radio and Great Memories.

It’ll be one to remember!

Listen on Saturday from 6pm-10pm! Don’t turn the radio off after my show is over because the “Saturday Nights with Tony Orlando” show comes on right after from 10pm-midnight. It is going to be an amazing night!
