February is always the month when we focus on the accomplishments of Black History. This Saturday night you will know how much African-American artists have contributed to the world of music!
It is not an overstatement to say that when it comes to the arts and the world of music and dance, black artists have gifted us with the greatest music on the planet. Whether it be from Jazz, a form of music that Black artists & musicians created, along with Rhythm and Blues.
So, again and again, incredible music created by Black musicians, songwriters, and singers that they can call their own! And we can’t fail to mention the first musical instrument invented in America…the banjo! It is well known that CHUCK BERRY and LITTLE RICHARD are considered the architects of Rock and Roll.
Also, the singing groups of the 50’s such as THE FLAMINGOS, THE HEART BEATS, THE HARP TONES, THE CADILLACS, are the architects of Doo-wop. So, think of it….from the Doo-wop groups of the 50’s, to the Hip-Hop genius of JAY-Z in this, the 21st century, as we honor Black History month….that is what defines our show this Saturday night!
