Sources have confirmed that legendary singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot has passed away this past Monday (May 1st). Lightfoot was 84 years old.
Lightfoot, who is considered to be a Folk music legend, played a major role in the folk music world during the 1960’s and 1970’s with classics such as “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” and so many more.
There has been an outpouring of fellow artists and public figures remembering Lightfoot’s career as well as friendship. Some of these names include Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, Brian Wilson, Author Stephen King, and even Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. “Gordon Lightfoot captured our country’s spirit in his music – and in doing so, he helped shape Canada’s soundscape”.
We are thinking of Gordon’s family and friends, along with his legacy during this time.
