This Week’s Special Guest Is Mark Volman of ‘The Turtles’ !!!

5-24-cousin-brucie-article

Hello Cousins!

The Turtles formed in Los Angeles in 1965.

Founding members Mark Volman and Howard Kalyan met in Westchester High School in Los Angeles. They both sang in the school’s a cappella choir. Howard had a surf music band called The Nightriders – Mark joined and both played saxophone with the band.

The band eventually took the name The Turtles (we will get the story behind the name) – when founding member Mark Volman visits us this Saturday 5/27/23 on WABC MusicRadio.

The Turtles had an outstanding number of hits including: “It Ain’t Me Babe” (1965), “You Baby” (1966), “She’d Rather Be With Me” (1967), “Eleanor” (1968) and of course their 1967 keystone “Happy Together”. Join us as we celebrate the Memorial Day weekend with Mark Volman and one of America’s most outstanding bands – The Turtles.

The best music from the 50s, 60s and 70s. I will take requests and dedications live on-air! The call-in number is 800-848-9222.

It’ll be one to remember!

Listen on Saturday from 6pm-10pm! Don’t turn the radio off after my show is over because the “Saturday Nights with Tony Orlando” show comes on right after from 10pm-midnight. It is going to be an amazing night!
