This Saturday Night… It’s All About “FAME”!

8-11-tony-article-1

Hello everyone!

This Saturday night’s show is a musical look at fame! FAME is a place that every kid growing up would love to experience, whether it be in sports, film, or in music or theater…becoming famous is attractive to just about everyone at some point in one’s life.

Yes, fame can be intoxicating, but but reality it also can be a double edged sword. Some of the songs I play this Saturday night reflect just that! Example… when MICHAEL JACKSON and FREDDIE MERCURY sing together in a duet, they ask the question…” There has to be more to it all than this?”. No two people were more famous than those two, and those two incredible SUPERSTARS defined fame in its intoxicating state of mind, and the reality of its devastating potential to self-destruct.

Fame can also be a blessing, as it was for my friend JERRY LEWIS, who took fame to a beautiful place by raising billions of dollars on his JERRY LEWIS MDA TELETHON, and thereby seeking a cure, for what has done so much incredible research! Or even in my case, my hit record “Tie A Yellow Ribbon” which has raised millions on behalf of our Veterans. This Saturday night, we seek the positive aspect of fame in the music we play, such as ARETHA FRANKLIN’S
“I’m Sitting On Top Of The World” to the magnificent recording of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” by JOHNNY MATHIS and RAY CHARLES.

And of course DAVID BOWIE’S great, defining song entitled “FAME”! This is a powerful night of fame in music, songs, and artistry. And remember… as HUGH PRATHER once stated in his iconic book “Notes To Myself”: “Fame isn’t really fame at all, it only appears that way from a distance!”

So, join me this Saturday night!
