The “A” is for co-founder HERB ALPERT, and the “M” stands for co- founder JERRY MOSS. We in the industry, lost an amazing person whose whole purpose was to create the greatest artists of his time, along with the genius of HERB ALPERT, hit-maker all with his band, THE TIJUANA BRASS. Hit after hit, all instrumentals! With his unique style on trumpet, you hear it and immediately, you can name him, “The Lonely Bull” or “Rise”…That’s got to be HERB ALPERT & THE TIJUANA BRASS!
Then, ALPERT & MOSS decide to become a serious record company, and the list of great recording artists, all not only having hits. but the label produced MONSTER hits with most of their signings that produced mega-stars, and their iconic hits! AND our salute to the late, great JERRY MOSS, co- founder and genius force behind his A&M Record Company! Which, in my opinion, is the most underrated GIANT of a record company!
A record company that people after this show will agree that A&M Records is one of the greatest labels of the 20th century! We thank you JERRY MOSS, and we salute you and thank you for giving the world some of the greatest artists and records ever made!
