Our First Visitor for 2024 is Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero –
You got it! CONNIE FRANCIS. Connie grew up in Belleville New Jersey where she often performed in local talent shows and became an audience favorite. While she was getting ready for the Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts Show, The host suggested that she change her name to something easier to pronounce and remember.
Franconero became Francis. She became one of the most successful recording artists of all time and was the first woman to reach number one on the music charts. Connie became “America’s Sweetheart” and her music filled the Air. “Lipstick On Your Collar”, “Everybody’s Somebodies Fool”, “Who’s Sorry Now”, Where The Boys Are”, “Frankie” and can we celebrate Mother’s Day without hearing “Mama”.
Connie Francis is family – let’s Welcome her to WABC Musicradio this Saturday 1/6/24.
