Hey Cousins!

Occasionally there is a song that haunts you. You always remember the melody, the voices and sometimes the “hook” of something special. Kathy Young gave us this kind of song.

“A Thousand Stars” by Kathy Young and The Innocents (1960) jumped to number Three on the charts- she was only 15 years old. Kathy was born in Southern California and got her break when a producer hired a band to record a cover version of “A Thousand Stars”.

The original recording was by The Rivileers in 1954. Kathy followed her major hit with several recordings that enjoyed moderate success. She moved to the UK for a while and then back to LA – successfully working in different industries while always keeping her love for music.

She was inducted into the Doo Wop Hall of Fame (Beverly, Massachusetts) in 2014. Join the Cuz as we welcome Kathy Young to WABC MusicRadio this Saturday 2/10/24.
