ROCK & ROLL CALL

During the British Invasion in the ‘60’s we fortunately had a few American Rockers that kept the Yanks on the charts. THE LOVIN’ SPOONFUL challenged the invasion, placing their first 7 singles on the Top 10 chart. Count them: “Do You Believe In Magic”, “Summer In The City”, “Daydream”, “Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind”, “Nashville Cats”, “You Didn’t Have To Be So Nice”. “Rain On The Roof” and another hit -“Darlin’ Be Home Soon”. Not bad for a first try.

We have a Special visitor this week. The original bass player of the Spoonful- STEVE BOONE.

He was born at Camp Lejuene in NC – his dad was stationed there.

He co-wrote – “You Didn’t Have To Be So Nice” and the chart-topper “Summer In The City”. Steve was one of the key forces behind the success of the Spoonful and continues to perform with the reunited band. Steve was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the band in 2000 and is an award-winning BMI songwriter.

He is still “ Hotter Than A Match Head”. Let’s welcome Steve Boone to WABC this Saturday 4/20/24.
