Chicago is known for being a Windy City, Lake Michigan, deep dish pizza and some pretty good music.
The BUCKINGHAMS were best known for their energetic blend of blue-eyed soul, jazz rock, and sunshine pop. Formed in Chicago in 1966, the group quickly rose to national fame, becoming one of the top-selling acts of 1967.
Their biggest hit, “Kind of a Drag,” reached #1 on the charts in early 1967. The band followed up with a string of Top 40 hits, including “Don’t You Care,” “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,” “Hey Baby (They’re Playing Our Song),” and “Susan”.
Our guest this week is DENNIS TUFANO the original lead singer of The Buckinghams and the defining element of their sound. Dennis’ vocals powered the band’s biggest hits and helped shape their identity during their most successful years.
