Hello, my friends, Hello!
This week’s theme was a time when the Jukebox was KING!! So, this Saturday night, my guest is a KING….ARTIE BUTLER! He’s the man behind many of those legends that are now the jukebox and soundtracks of our lives!!!
From his first arrangements and playing keyboards on on his first gig, a Doo- wop legendary recording by THE MONOTONES called “The Book Of Love”! And then, he went to arranging or playing on hits by BARRY MANILOW and NEIL DIAMOND! And yes, even LOUIS ARMSTRONG’S “What A Wonderful World”…I believe this is a fact for sure! ARTIE BUTLER.. musician, arranger, producer, and songwriter…he is part of every song on my jukebox, and we will his play his playlist this Saturday night! In fact, we could easily say he was a major part of what I call “The Jukebox of our lives”!!!! And I must share this with you… ARTIE BUTLER’S live stage show “For The Record” absolutely blew my mind!!! I laughed, I cried, as I revered the memories of my youth, and loved every song in his stage show “For The Record”. I loved every story he shared with the audience of the years he spent witnessing history, while taking part or making these hit records. From his famous piano opening on JOE COCKER’S “Feelin’ Alright?”, to arranging LOUIS ARMSTRONG’S “What A Wonderful World”, to Doo-wop’s “The Book Of Love”. OMG, what a prolific span of hit records! You’ll hear 6 decades of classic hits, and stories of who played in so many roles on those recording sessions. He is our man behind the music…the great ARTIE BUTLER! He is a key component in all of these hits, either as musician, arranger, producer, and even songwriter…as you’ll hear BARBRA STREISAND sing his powerful song that he wrote called “Here’s To Life.” Oh, and by the way, he is also a hilarious stand-up Comedian, so there you have it!! That is my theme, and ARTIE BUTLER is my special guest this Saturday Night!
Yes, I can proudly say THE GREAT….ARTIE BUTLER!
