Our guest this week is singer-songwriter CLINT HOLMES, best known for his chart-topping hit single “Playground In My Mind.” Clint’s career spans over five decades, marked by a blend of pop, jazz, and soul.
Born in England in 1946 to an African-American jazz musician and an English opera singer, Clint was raised in Farnham, New York. His multicultural heritage brought him a unique musical perspective rooted in both classical and jazz.
Clint initially studied vocal music at Fredonia State College before joining the U.S. Army, where he sang with the United States Army Chorus during the Vietnam War. After his service, he began performing in Washington, D.C. nightclubs and quickly rose to national fame with the 1972 release of “Playground in My Mind.” The single became a massive hit in 1973, reaching No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and earning international acclaim.
Clint received a Grammy nomination for his 2017 album Rendezvous, and continues to perform across the U.S. and internationally.
