Our guest this week is singer, guitarist, and songwriter TERRY SYLVESTER- best known for his work with The Escorts and The Swinging Blue Jeans and The Hollies.
When Graham Nash left The Hollies in late 1968 to form Crosby, Stills & Nash, Terry was recruited to fill the vacancy, performing the high harmony parts and rhythm guitar. His voice can be heard on major singles such as “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,” “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress,” and “The Air That I Breathe,” recordings that earned him multiple gold and platinum awards.
Historically, from Liverpool’s early beat-group explosion to the early TV international pop of the 1970s Terry’s creative presence was there. His harmony singing in The Hollies helped sustain the band’s success after Graham Nash’s departure, ensuring that the group remained on the singles and album charts throughout the decade.
