PETULA CLARK began her highly successful journey more than eight decades ago as a child performer entertaining British troops. And now with more than 75 million records sold Petula continues her outstanding career.
In 1964 she recorded “Downtown”, and the record shot to number one in the United States, earning her a Grammy Award and becoming her signature song. Follow‑up hits like “I Know a Place,” “My Love,” and “Don’t Sleep in the Subway” confirmed her place as one of the decade’s defining pop voices.
Petula Clark starred in film musicals including “Finian’s Rainbow” opposite Fred Astaire and “Goodbye, Mr. Chips” with Peter O’Toole, earning strong reviews and awards. She later went
on stage in major productions such as “The Sound of Music” and “Sunset Boulevard,” while continuing to tour and release albums. Petula earned one of the longest active chart spans in pop history.
And now, the long awaited book – “Is That You, Petula?” is her first full-length autobiography, published in 2025 by Ebury Spotlight (Penguin Random House UK). It is being promoted as her “first and only” memoir.
