Bulova's Sundays with Sinatra with Joe Piscopo

This week on Bulova Sundays with Sinatra, it’s Frank Sinatra’s 1971 Retirement Concert!

When Mr. Sinatra decided to retire from show business, he gave one more, final concert on June 13, 1971.

This concert took place in Los Angeles at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion’s Ahmanson Theater.

Packed with friends and family – and even former U.S. Vice President, Spiro Agnew (!) – the Chairman of the Board took charge to say goodbye after by then, 39 years in the business!

All of your favorite Frank Sinatra tunes are on the playlist including one that he almost never performed on a live stage, ‘That’s Life!’

But wait, there’s more! What was the first ‘coming out of retirement’ album, following this concert?

You got it, ‘Ol Blue Eyes Is Back!’

What a beautiful and lush LP orchestrated and arranged by both Don Costa and Gordon Jenkins.

Francis Albert sings celebratory and soft and very ‘1973’ on ‘Ol Blue Eyes Is Back.’ (One of Joe P.’s favorites.)

So stay tuned for Bulova Sundays with Sinatra on 77MusicRadioWabc out of New York.

Streaming worldwide on WabcRadio.com wabcradio.com and syndicated on the Red Apple Audio Network as Bulova Sundays with Sinatra.

With your host, Joe Piscopo.
