ROCK & ROLL CALL📞📞☎️📞
By the end of the 60’s into the early 70’s THREE DOG NIGHT was one of the most dominant and commercially successful rock acts in the nation. Danny Hutton had an idea of forming a band with three lead singers. Developing unique harmonies and song choices turning them into a radio staple and concert powerhouse.
Danny teamed with Cory Wells and Chuck Negron—friends from the L.A. club and touring circuit to develop the new idea. The initial trio, then called Redwood, briefly worked under the wing of Brian Wilson. The “Three Dogs” had major hits, including, “Mama Told Me (Not to Come)”, “Joy to the World”, “Black and White,” “Shambala,” “An Old‑Fashioned Love Song,” “Never Been to Spain,” and “One,” each showcasing different combinations of the three voices.
According to Rock & Roll mythology, the group’s unusual name came from a story about Australian Aboriginal or outback hunters who slept with their dogs for warmth, with the coldest nights described as a “three dog night.”
Three Dog Night remains an active touring act – led onstage by founding singer Danny Hutton, now the last surviving member of the group’s original three-frontman vocal lineup. The band continues to work the theater, casino, and summer circuit with a heavy schedule of dates across the United States.
Let’s warmup and join the Cuz welcoming DANNY HUTTON to MUSICRADIO Saturday 3/7/26.
