Hello Everybody!
One of the great opportunities in doing this radio podcast show is that I have been blessed with seven decades working in the record industry, and I can share my journey with you! Imagine how blessed I’ve been to have recorded my first hit in 1960, then released in 1961, when I recorded Carole King and Gerry Goffin’s song “Halfway to Paradise.” My goodness, that was only five years after Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel” and the birth of the great singing groups of the ’50s , a genre called “Doo wop,” which many consider not only the moment when the King and megastar of Rock and Roll was born, but also when R&B, the recipe for a genre we now call Rock and Roll…was born!
That decade is…the Fifties!!!
My first step into the music recording career started only five short years after Elvis’ first hit and the Doo Wop explosion. But by the grace of God, it continued for seven Rockin’ Decades thereafter!
So this week on Rockin’ the Decades, I plan to take all of you on the journey of these Rockin’ Decades as I have lived them and remember them.
Please join me for what will be a rockin’, rollin’ journey through the decades…from “Doo Wop to Hip Hop!
