Pat Boone was one of the most successful and popular recording stars of the 1950s. Pat sold nearly 50 million records, earned 38 Top 40 hits, and recorded hit songs such as “Moody River,” “Speedy Gonzales,” “April Love”, “Ain’t That a Shame”, “I Almost Lost My Mind”, “Don’t Forbid Me” and his biggest hit, “Love Letters in the Sand”.
He was also known for popular cover versions of rhythm and blues songs
and successfully covered songs by artists such as Fats Domino “Ain’t That A Shame” and Little Richard – “Tutti Frutti”, “Long Tall Sally”, and “Rip It Up”. These covers gave him mainstream audience acceptance and helped make him one of the most commercially successful singers of his generation.
