Slash & Other Legends Honor Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Gary Rossington With Amazing Performance

4-3-slash

The Country Music Awards ended their show on Sunday (April 2nd), with an incredible tribute to the late Gary Rossington- lead guitarist of classic rock’s very own Lynyrd Skynyrd at Austin, Texas’ Moody Center.

This however, was not an ordinary tribute- as it included a long, star-studded list of names performing a live jam session on the CMA stage that is only right for someone as legendary as Rossington.

Amongst the legends, some of the names included Guns N’ Roses own Slash, former Bad Company and Queen singer Paul Rodgers, LeeAnn Rimes, ZZ Tops‘ Billy Gibbons, Wynonna Judd and so many more.

The tribute was introduced by legendary guitarist and singer Peter Frampton.

Slash and the rest of the crew performed beautiful renditions of Lynyrd Skynyrd‘s ‘Simple Man’, as well as ‘Sweet Home Alabama’.

Gary Rossington passed away on March 5th at the age of 71.

He was the co-founder of Lynyrd Skynyrd, who went on to be one of the most legendary bands of all time with a career spanning over 50 years including the iconic “Free Bird” being one of their greatest hits.
