Our guest visit this week is Mark Stein who became famous as the lead singer and keyboardist of the Psychedelic Rock band Vanilla Fudge.
They had major hits in the late ‘60’s. – “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” and “Shotgun”.
Originally, Vanilla Fudge was a blue-eyed soul cover band (formed 1965) called “The Pigeons”. Their record label didn’t care for the name – so the Pigeons flew the coop and Vanilla Fudge came to nest. Mark Stein was an important link in the development of the psychedelic rock genre and became a major contributor to the development of psychedelia and eventually heavy metal.
