Kenny Vance is a singer, songwriter, and music producer known for his contributions to the doo-wop and rock ‘n’ roll genres. Kenny was a teenager when his Rock & Roll journey began. He was a founding member of an early group called The Harborlites (1959). They had a moderate regional success. And then he hit the musical bell, co-founding Jay and The Americans.. with hits like “She Cried” and “Come a Little Bit Closer.” The group opened for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones during their first U.S. tours. After he left Jay and The Americans – Kenny became a music producer , working on films such as “Animal House” and “Eddie and the Cruisers.” He also served as a musical director for “Saturday Night Live” and was instrumental in discovering Steely Dan.
His influence in music is recognized through his inductions into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Kenny has produced and directed a film called: “Heart & Soul” and is now being presented on television and at Film Festivals nationally. In this documentary, music legend Kenny travels through the Rock & Roll decades as we join him and the artists who defined early rock & roll.
