ROCK & ROLL CALL📞📞☎️📞
Our guest this week is MITCH RYDER. Mitch introduced us to one of Detroit’s most energetic rock and soul voices. He fused R&B with a garage‑band energy in the mid‑1960s. Emerging with the Detroit Wheels, he helped define a sound that broadened Detroit’s Rock & Roll influence.
The band caught the attention of producer Bob Crewe (known for his association with The Four Seasons). He convinced the group to move to New York City – change their name to Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels and produce records that became a sensation on radio.
Mitch and “The Wheels” racked up a run of U.S. Top 100 singles, with “Devil With a Blue Dress On,” “Jenny Take a Ride,” and “Sock It to Me, Baby!”
Mitch and the Wheels were inducted into the Michigan Rock & Roll Legends Hall of Fame (2005) and again as a solo artist (2009).
Mitch continues to write, record and tour.
Let’s welcome this amazing talent to our MUSICRADIO show this Saturday 1/10/26.
