Our special guest on this Saturday night’s show has been called one of the greatest living Soul Singers of all-time. We welcome Sam Moore of the multi-award winning duo “Sam and Dave.” They performed together from 1961 – 1981 and had several million selling chart hits, including: “Hold On I’m Coming” and “Soul Man.”
Tragically Dave Prater was killed in a car crash in 1988. Sam and Dave were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 (Dave posthumously), the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, The Memphis Music Hall of Fame and The Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame.
They won a Grammy Award for “Soul Man” and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. Rolling Stone magazine listed Sam & Dave as number 14 in their Top 20 Greatest Duos of All Time. According to some of the most important musicians and music journalists, “Sam and Dave” were the most successful Soul Duos in the history of Rhythm and Blues.
